Rayne and Tim’s Rocky Mountain Engagement Session

May 14, 2018

I first met Rayne four years ago, when she came home from Australia, to visit her mom in TX (during my stint in Dallas). So when I found out she was engaged, and that we would all be together during our girl’s weekend, her mom had planned in Canada, we started making plans for their engagement session. It had always been a dream of mine to go back to Banff in the summer, when Lake Louise wasn’t frozen, to capture it’s beautiful turquoise waters in person. Unfortunately, winter went long this year, and when we pulled up to the lake, we found it still mostly frozen over.  Rayne and Tim, rolled with the flow, and embraced a little snow, some bright sun, and a lot of tourists, to help capture the beautiful mountain backdrops, and get some fun shots of the two of them and their sweet dog Maizey, in the place they now call home. After leaving Lake Louise, we decided to check out  nearby Bow Falls, in search of some actual flowing water, and sure enough we got it. Rayne in her Australian spirit, threw off her shoes, and embraced running around on the rocky waterfront, to grab a few more shots with Tim, before we headed back to Calgary. While Atlanta is great for lush green backdrops for engagement sessions, it was fun getting to shoot in a new locale, with such different terrain. So, if anyone else is looking do a destination engagement session, I am ready to go! And since I still didn’t get the shot of Lake Louise I wanted, it looks like a mid summer trip to Canada is in my future! Here are a few of my favorite shots.
